AssetTracker Site Pages, Employee Transfers, and Reporting Upgrades

SmartKit’s June 28, 2026 update brings a major AssetTracker upgrade, with redesigned site detail pages, stronger employee management, cleaner reports, and more accurate device tracking across sites.

Redesigned Site Detail Pages

Site pages have been completely overhauled to make device visibility faster and clearer.

Each site now shows colored stat boxes for Total, Assigned, and Available devices at the top of the page. Below that, a full searchable device table lists every device connected to the site, including Device Name, Serial or Asset Tag, Status, Holder, and Assigned Since date.

Device resolution is now smarter too. Devices assigned to employees at a site are automatically included, not only devices assigned directly to the site. You can also search instantly by device name, serial, asset tag, or holder name.

Site device lists can now be exported as branded PDFs with the SmartKit logo, site name, and exact download date and time. Exported files are automatically named in the format AssetTracker_SiteName_YYYYMMDD.pdf.

Employee Profile Improvements

Employee profiles now show the employee’s current site as a clear blue badge on the profile card.

A new Transfer Site button makes it easy to move an employee from one site to another. The transfer dialog shows the current site, lists available destination sites, and includes an optional reason or notes field.

Every transfer is recorded in the employee timeline, including the old site, new site, and reason when provided. When an employee moves sites, their assigned devices automatically appear under the new site without manual reassignment.

Employee resignation tracking has also been added. A new Mark Resigned button requires confirmation before action. Once marked as resigned, the button is replaced with a permanent red badge showing the resignation date, and the resignation is logged in the timeline.

Rebuilt Reports Page

The Reports page has been rebuilt to make exported data more useful.

The Category column has been removed and replaced with more relevant fields, including User Name and Site Code. Site codes now appear as blue badges and are resolved automatically, even for devices assigned through users or stores.

PDF exports are cleaner too. We fixed the blank-page issue caused by excessive whitespace, switched reports to landscape orientation so columns fit properly, added row numbers for easier reference, and included a summary row showing Total, Assigned, and Available counts below the table.

Public Dashboard Fixes

The public AssetTracker dashboard now displays site codes correctly for devices assigned to employees, not just devices assigned directly to sites.

A new Assigned To column shows the employee or user name in the public device inventory table. Site resolution now traces assignments through the full path, from device to employee to employee site, covering user, store, and direct site assignments.

System Improvements

Behind the scenes, device-to-site lookups now read device files directly instead of relying on stale index data. We added dedicated API actions for resignations and site transfers, both with proper history logging.

Site references have also been corrected to use sites-index.json, and the users index now updates automatically on every transfer and resignation.

This update makes AssetTracker more accurate, more transparent, and much easier to manage across real-world teams, sites, and device movements.
