Form Builder Gets Independent Sidebar and Workspace Scrolling

SmartKit Form Builder has received a practical interface upgrade that makes building long forms much smoother on desktop screens. The left field toolbox and the main form workspace now scroll independently, so creators can move through the field list without losing their place in the form, and they can scroll through long surveys, quizzes, registrations, and competition forms without the toolbox disappearing from view.

What changed

Previously, the Form Builder used one shared page scrollbar. This worked for small forms, but it became uncomfortable when a creator was building a detailed form with many questions, sections, file uploads, quiz fields, or custom blocks. Scrolling down the main form could push the left field palette away, and scrolling through the toolbox could move the entire page unexpectedly. That meant creators had to keep jumping up and down just to add a new field or return to the question they were editing.

With this update, the builder layout now behaves like a proper dual-panel workspace. The left toolbox has its own vertical scrollbar, and the main canvas has its own vertical scrollbar. You can browse fields like Long Text, Star Rating, Dropdown, File Upload, Date, Time, URL, Multiple Choice, Checkboxes, and layout blocks while the form canvas stays exactly where it is. At the same time, you can scroll through the main workspace to edit questions, sections, scoring fields, descriptions, and uploaded media settings while the toolbox remains available on the left.

Why it matters

This is especially useful for creators building long surveys, online quizzes, student registrations, judging forms, event forms, feedback forms, and file collection workflows. A teacher building a large quiz can stay near the current question while still having every field type available. An organiser creating a competition form can move through video upload fields, participant details, and scoring sections without constantly returning to the top. A business team designing a detailed request form can quickly add new fields while keeping the exact editing position in view.

Smoother desktop workflow

The new independent scrolling setup reduces page jumping and makes drag and drop field insertion feel more controlled. The sidebar stays useful throughout the entire building session, and the main workspace becomes easier to manage when a form grows large. We also added sleek, thin custom scrollbars to both panels so the interface feels cleaner and less distracting while still making it clear that each area can scroll on its own.
