Bio Links Gets Text Items, Reusable Icons, and Smarter Link Controls
SmartKit Bio Links received a major usability and content-management upgrade as part of the August 3, 2026 update.
This release turns the Bio Links dashboard into a more flexible profile builder, giving creators better control over links, text sections, icons, uploads, visibility, ordering, and public link sharing.
Links and Text Items in One Page
The Links page now supports both clickable Link items and plain Text items.
A new Add New Item menu lets profile owners choose what they want to add. Link items work as normal clickable destinations, while Text items can be used for headings, announcements, labels, separators, or section notes without requiring a URL or icon.
This makes Bio Links more useful for profiles that need structure, not only buttons.
Drag-and-Drop Ordering and Visibility Controls
Bio Links items can now be reordered by drag-and-drop.
Each item can also be edited, duplicated, deleted, or enabled and disabled through a clean aligned visibility toggle.
Disabled items remain saved in the dashboard but are hidden from the public Bio page, making it easier to prepare seasonal links, temporary announcements, or draft sections without deleting them.
Smarter Item Duplication
Duplication now works more intelligently.
When a profile owner duplicates an item, the copied item keeps its configuration and selected icon, resets its click count to zero, receives a copy label, and appears immediately below the original item.
If the original item uses an uploaded image, the duplicate reuses the existing image reference instead of creating another upload or consuming extra storage quota.
Redesigned Image and Icon Library
The icon picker has been redesigned as a fixed-size Image and Icon Library.
It now includes My Photos, Social Icons, and Upload Image tabs. Social icons are searchable, and creators can choose Color, Black, or White icon styles.
White icon previews now appear clearly on dark tiles, making it easier to see how they will look before selection.
The Social Icons collection has also been expanded with Threads in Color, Black, and White variants.
Reusable User Uploads
Uploaded images now become reusable assets inside My Photos.
Images upload immediately with a progress indicator, appear automatically in the library, count against the user's storage quota, and can be reused across multiple Bio Links without uploading the same file again.
Uploaded photos also include a clear Delete action. When an image is deleted, SmartKit safely removes it from any Bio Links using it before releasing the related storage quota.
Stronger Upload Limits and Validation
The upload limit for Bio Links images has been reduced to 500 KB.
Server-side validation now checks allowed image types and dimensions, helping keep uploads cleaner, safer, and more storage-friendly.
Public Bio Page Link Controls
The public Bio page now supports per-link three-dot menus with a Copy Link command.
Direct URLs can also scroll to a specific Bio Link item and briefly highlight it, making it easier to share one exact link from a larger Bio profile.
The highlight effect is theme-aware, and clickable URLs are handled more safely on the public page.
Backend Reliability and Security Improvements
This release also improves the backend foundation for Bio Links.
Updates include CSRF enforcement, strict URL and image validation, safer JSON writes, quota accounting, protected item ordering, and secure handling of custom icon references.
Altogether, this update makes Bio Links feel more like a real mini content page, with better structure for creators, cleaner asset reuse, stronger upload controls, and a smoother public sharing experience.
