Election Tool Gets New Theme Compatibility, Mobile Fixes, and Print Reports

SmartKit Updates
August 7, 2026

SmartKit Election Tool received a major theme, stability, and reporting upgrade as part of the August 7, 2026 update.

This release improves compatibility with the new SmartKit shell theme, strengthens mobile layouts, upgrades printed election reports, and fixes several important voting and management issues.

New Theme and Layout Compatibility

The Election Management dashboard now fits more cleanly inside the updated SmartKit shell experience.

The sticky sidebar has been restored by replacing the older horizontal overflow behavior with a modern layout-safe approach. This keeps the sidebar in view while scrolling through management pages.

Footer layout has also been restructured so footers span the full width of their containers and sit flush at the bottom without awkward borders, gaps, or broken spacing.

Header action buttons such as Start Election and End Election now align properly with nearby utility buttons, giving the management header a cleaner and more professional feel.

Better Mobile Responsiveness

The Election Tool now behaves better on narrow phone screens.

Candidate List View has been updated so names, percentages, and vote counts wrap safely instead of colliding with each other.

View controls such as List View, Icon View, and Print Report can now wrap naturally on mobile devices, preventing the buttons from being squeezed into an unreadable row.

Professional Print Reports

Election print reports now look more official and reliable when printed from the browser.

Print color handling has been improved so progress bars and colored badges render more accurately in printed reports.

The standard website footer is now hidden during printing, preventing it from overlapping with the official Result Certificate verification text at the bottom of the document.

Candidate result cards are also protected from awkward page breaks, helping reports stay clean across multiple printed pages.

Formal Final Result Labels

Election result labels now become more formal after an election ends.

Once an election is officially marked as ended, generic Leading and Trailing labels are replaced with Winner and Not Elected designations.

This makes final reports clearer, more professional, and more suitable for sharing or printing.

Vote Saving Fix

A critical vote saving issue has been fixed.

Some voters were seeing an Error saving vote alert because of conflicting database transaction states. The transaction handling has now been cleaned up so votes can be saved more reliably.

Improved Browser-Based Duplicate Vote Protection

The Tier 3 browser-based security flow has been updated for shared Wi-Fi environments.

The system now focuses on browser fingerprinting and tracking cookies for duplicate vote protection instead of strictly blocking by IP address.

This means multiple people in the same household, office, school, or shared network can cast their own individual votes without being unfairly blocked only because they use the same Wi-Fi connection.

Candidate Image Cropper

Adding candidates now includes a new interactive image cropper.

Admins can scale and center candidate photos into a 1:1 circular crop before uploading. This helps candidate faces appear cleaner and more consistent across the voting page and election results.

This update makes the Election Tool more polished for admins, more usable on phones, more reliable for voters, and more professional when results need to be printed or shared.
